Two UN agencies and the World Bank today expressed appreciation at the launch of a pilot version of a Global Protocol for Community-scale Greenhouse Gas Emissions, designed to harmonize emissions measurement and reporting process for the world's cities. The protocol was released at the UNFCCC climate meetings in Bonn by C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, with input from the World Resources Institute.

Sub-Saharan Africa cannot sustain its present economic resurgence unless it eliminates the hunger that affects nearly a quarter of its people, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) argues in the newly released Africa Human Development Report 2012: Towards a Food Secure Future.

Scanlon, has today awarded a Certificate of Commendation to the National Inter-Agency CITES Enforcement Collaboration Group (NICECG) of China in recognition of two nationwide wildlife law enforcement operations carried out earlier this year. Over 100,000 enforcement officers were mobilised in this effective offensive against wildlife crime.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will coordinate with Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee to organise activities marking 2012 World Environment Day (June 5) in the northern province.
